About Robert Oliver

I love photography and I love to teach. In my 20 + years as a professional newspaper, magazine and commercial photographer, I’ve acquired a lot of knowledge about photography.

It’s time to share!

I’ve been a photographer for as long as I can remember. From the moment I walked into my mom’s makeshift darkroom in the bathroom when I was 5 years old and watched that print magically appear in the tray of chemicals. I was hooked.

I got my first full-time photography job at 18 and have invested immeasurable amounts of time into learning my craft. Photography has taken me to some of the most amazing places on earth and has allowed me to meet some of it’s most amazing inhabitants.

I have had a very diverse photographic career. I have photographed everything from natural disasters to major sporting events to national advertising campaigns to priceless once in a lifetime personal moments.

I’ve had hundreds of my photos used on the covers of magazines, and thousands of photos published in both editorial and advertising features in publications around the world.

My photography assignments have taken me around the world and challenged me to learn how to shoot a multitude of different subjects in every condition imaginable.

It’s time to share! So I am launching this new blog about photography and a series of photography workshops and tours that are designed to help people improve their photography.

Knowing what makes a good photo is the first part, but being able to control your camera to create the image you want is probably the most important part of the process.

I want to help you take your photography to the next level!
